"Thank you. I love the way you treat the kids: I wish I'd gone to a school like this when I was young." Contractor who worked at the school during a building project for 8 months 2012-2013
"It's got a lovely atmosphere. You can feel the warmth as soon as you come in." Bishop of Reading on the occasion of his visit to the school to open new buildings, February 2013
"You've blown me away. The children seem so happy to be here." Parent following tour around the school, November 2013
"As a children’s poet, I have visited over 1400 schools in the UK and abroad over the last 10 years. What makes my three day residency at Aldermaston Primary exceptional for me personally is that there was 100% commitment from the Headteacher, teaching staff and children throughout…not only did the children listen, they gave their all. They asked insightful questions, they wrote fabulous poems, they took on board suggestions for developing and crafting their work.
One other notable element for me was that the Headteacher took an active interest in my residency…likewise, Governors came along to individual workshops and wrote poems alongside the children. This level of commitment, in my experience, is sadly very rare.
The only unfortunate note is that I could not do a longer residency at Aldermaston, as Rhodri Bowen and his wonderful school have made this, without doubt, one of the most enjoyable, rewarding and successful visits I have ever had the pleasure to undertake, and I genuinely hope to be able to work with this excellent school at some point in the near future" James Carter - poet in residence January 2013 (http://www.jamescarterpoet.co.uk/)
